Lesson 2 - XX Rated Creatures Part I
Ok now we all know that the X-rated creatures weren't the most exciting ones ever. So this lesson we are going to talk about some more exciting
creatures. We're going to talk about XX-rated creatures. Now if you all remember the chart from Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them the double "X" rating is defined as Harmless/may be domesticated. So lets begin with some new fascinating creatures.
creatures. We're going to talk about XX-rated creatures. Now if you all remember the chart from Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them the double "X" rating is defined as Harmless/may be domesticated. So lets begin with some new fascinating creatures.
Augurey:
First up is the Augurey. Now some of you may know this creature by another name, the Irish Phoenix. Though it is native to Britain and Ireland. It looks like a small greenish gray vulture. Its nest is shaped like a tear drop. This shy bird makes its nest out of thorns and vines. The bird only flies in heavy rain and eats fairies and large insects. The Augurey has a very distinct call from other birds, which was also believed to foretell death. Its call sounds like a low throbbing cry. About a dozen wizards have suffered serious heart attacks from hearing their calls. Uric the Oddball lived with no more than 50 Augureys in his house. During one wet winter night, Uric believed the Augureys' cry meant he was dead and he was now a ghost. Turns out he wasn't dead at all. Later research proved that the Augurey cried at the approach of rain. Augureys are now used as household weather forecasters. Now some of you might have thought that its a bird that has feathers, can't they be made into quills? They can not be made into quills because they repel ink. Now onto the next creature, the Chizpurfle!
Chizpurfle:
Now we are going to talk about a household pest. Now it may not sound horrible, but if the infestation isn't resolved quickly, things can get quite
difficult. This parasite is called a Chizpurfle. Now these can reach up to a twentieth of an inch high. They look like really tiny crabs with large fangs. They love magical objects. That's why they infest fur and feathers of magical creatures. They also move into wizard and witches houses and eat on their magical objects. They are known for eating away at people's wands. Though they will settle in dirty cauldrons and live off drops of potion. These pest can easily be removed with an already patented potion. Though if they eat away at to much of magical objects you might need the Pest Sub-Division of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. (Say that 5 times fast) If they get to much magical in them they can become hard to get rid of. Now lets put this away before it starts eating away at one of your wands.
(If you'd like to see a picture of one, simply google the word 'Chizpurfle' I find them to be quite scary <_<)

Diricrawl:
Now some of you might have been called or have called someone a "dodo". Which leads me right into my next creature. The Diricrawl. The Diricrawl is a flightless bird that is round with fluffy feathers. It came from Mauritius where it also got a one of its rare abilities. This bird is like a Phoenix, which we will be covering later on as well. The Diricrawl can disappear into puff of feathers. Both creatures share this ability. Now back to the "dodo" comment. Muggles know this creature, but by a different name, which I'm sure you have all figured out by now. Now Muggles believe that they have hunted this bird into extinction. Boy I bet they're proud of that one....anyways, what the muggles don't know is that this bird is still around. Now lets go to something with a little more color.
Ghoul:
Ghouls, in my opinion are another one of those scary looking creatures, however, Ghouls are not dangerous creatures. (but if their looks could kill, they would be rated XXXXXXXXX) They look like ogres with really bad teeth. They live in attics and basements of Wizards and eat moths and bugs. They seem to get cranky and moan and throw things but other than that they are pretty well boring. Though some families love them and Ghouls become somewhat of a family pet. An example of that would be the Ghoul that lived at the Weasley's house! Not quite sure why it was so fond of those pajama's they gave it to wear, but still, a weird creature none the less!
Grindylow:
Did you see that demon in the water over there? Yes, I'm talking about the Grindylow. Grindylows are pale-green in color with long fingers that have extreme power. Now these fingers are very strong, but they are surprising easy to break. Remember that if you ever get in some trouble with them. Now you will have to watch the waters in Britain and Ireland. It eats small fish, but also has been known to confuse small fish with people's toes. This creature is very aggressive towards Wizards and Muggles alike. Now Merepeople have been known to domesticate these demons. Now lets move on.
Jobberknoll:
Oh look over there! Its a Jobberknoll! You might have to squint a little. Its that tiny blue speckled bird. Now these birds are only found in Northern Europe and America. They eat small insects and make no noise until the moment of its death. Then its make a long scream of every noise its ever heard then falls over dead. Very poetic if you ask me... Anyways their feathers are used for Truth Serums and Memory Potions. Now onto our next creature.
Porlock:
How many of you like horses? Well this next creature protects horses, its name, the Porlock. These creatures are found in Dorset, England and also in Southern Ireland. It is covered in long fur and rough hair on its head. It also has a very long nose. It walks on two feet with hooves and has two small arms that end in 4 fingers. Fully grown, these creatures stand at about 2 feet high and feed on grass. These creatures have always mistrusted humans so they hid when one is around. Lets move on!
Ramora:
From the field, to the ocean. Lets talk about the Ramora. Now not much is known about it. So I can't tell you too much sadly, but I can tell you what I know. The Ramora is a silver fish that lives in the Indian Ocean. These fish have very powerful magic. They have been known to anchor ships. Now there are laws to help protect the Ramora from poachers. So you better watch it.
